Shopping
Shopping is a pleasant experience in Asturias. With some notable exceptions you can buy everything you could want and more.
Food
Food shops are crammed with fine quality meat, produce and groceries and the products are generally well priced. Supermarkets do just about everything you could want but don’t expect to find much UK style bacon, sausages or cheese. I love Spain but I have to say that Spanish sausages are not nice - whatever spice is put in them makes me gag.
Clothes & Shoes
Clothes are typically Spanish and seem to have a flair and quality to equal the best of the UK but they are just that little bit different and in my opinion more stylish. The shoes are still made in Spain itself, typically Toledo. These are very good quality and are very stylish.
Electrical
This is the same as the UK. Everything you could want. Department stores like Corte Ingles do a good range. Supermarkets also do a good range in fridges, freezers, washing machines, dishwashers etc. Hi tech equipment is also a good buy from supermarkets. All electrical goods carry a two year guarantee from Spain.
Furniture
This is of variable quality. A lot of smart stores sell cheap imports which don’t warrant the price.
Cars
You can get a better deal in Spain. The cars may be better equipped and may carry a 5 instead of 3 year warranty.
